Xbox One X: Pre orders go live as Microsoft reveals special new Project Scorpio edition
You can now purchase an Xbox One X. Microsoft has opened pre-orders for the upcoming 4K console, which the company describes as "the world's most powerful console". The Xbox One X was officially unveiled in June, and will come out on 7 November. It costs £449, and is claimed to be 40 per cent more powerful than any other console on the market. Microsoft has also launched a special version of the Xbox One X, called the Project Scorpio Edition. Project Scorpio was the One X's codename, and the company wants it to "live on" and enable fans "to celebrate both our heritage and the power and precision that we are bringing into our future". It's exactly the same as the standard Xbox One X, but the words "Project Scorpio" are printed on both the console and the controller, and it comes with an exclusive vertical stand.
What to expect at this year's E3
A convention center packed with video games large and small. E3 is a magical week for anyone who likes to spend their free time pushing buttons on plastic gamepads. It's like the Super Bowl, the Oscars and a presidential election rolled into one. Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo stand out as the hardware heavyweights, while EA, Ubisoft and Bethesda lead the third-party-publisher tussle. Throw in Square Enix, Activision and the occasional Capcom appearance, and you have the makings of a truly special show.

Project Scorpio: Xbox chief on Microsoft's plans for console domination
Earlier this month, Microsoft did something console manufacturers haven't done for many years. It announced key details of its forthcoming Project Scorpio console – an update to the Xbox One – via a set of exclusive features on the video game news site, Eurogamer. In the modern games industry the strict control of information, especially regarding hardware, has become something of a corporate obsession. To cede control of a major revelation – in this case the technical specifications of a forthcoming machine – was a fascinating, but intelligent move. It added a sense of impartiality and validity to all the specs and stats that came out of the reveal, lending the information some real authority that would have been missing from an official press release. It let gamers start processing the meaning of the machine for themselves.
Project Scorpio: This is what the next Xbox looks like
If video game consoles were cars, Microsoft's Xbox division just revealed its Ferrari. The tech giant revealed the first details of Project Scorpio -- a high-end model of its Xbox One video game console launching during the Christmas holiday season -- in a report published Thursday to games website Eurogamer. Eurogamer says they traveled to Microsoft's headquarters in Redmond, Wash., to get a first look at Scorpio as well as talk to the console's top creators. According to tech specs revealed in the report, Scorpio will boast an improved processors (31% faster than Xbox One), and more memory compared to its chief rival, Sony's PlayStation 4 Pro, launched last holiday. Scorpio will also support 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray discs, and runs its own custom-built graphics processing unit.

Xbox Project Scorpio: Microsoft reveals the most powerful games console ever made
Microsoft has revealed details of its long-rumoured "Project Scorpio". The mysterious new Xbox looks to be the most powerful games console ever made, according to specs published by the company. It revealed the specifications of the new project, with more information to be shown off in the coming months. But those specs make it easily the most powerful console on the market, surpassing closest rival the PS4 Pro. Unlike the recent releases of the Xbox One S and the PS4 – both of which brought updated specs and support for 4K video – the new Project Scorpio appears to be an entirely new console. But Microsoft promised that it would still be able to play Xbox One and 360 games.
Xbox Executive Claims Project Scorpio Will Deliver 'Really True 4K' Gaming Experience
Sony just came out with the PlayStation 4 Pro, an upgraded version of the PS4 that's capable of 4K gaming. Microsoft's plan to bring 4K technology to the Xbox won't be happening until fall 2017 via Project Scorpio, which executive Aaron Greenberg says is capable of delivering "really true 4K." "This will really bring the most powerful console you've ever seen," Greenberg told the crowd in Mexico City during the Xbox FanFest, as per Game Transfers. "It will bring these really true 4K, really incredible visual games that we've never seen before on the console." Greenberg also pointed out the a lot of gamers on the PC spend thousands of dollars to get that same experience and scaling it down into a home gaming console is exactly what Project Scorpio is all about. Microsoft first announced Project Scorpio back in June during this year's E3 conference, alongside the Xbox One S. The company hasn't revealed much about the Scorpio since then.

It sounds like Microsoft has shelved its Xbox streaming stick
Prior to Microsoft's keynote at E3 this year, a raft of rumors were swirling about. Microsoft's answer to the PlayStation 4 Pro (which we now know as Project Scorpio) and the Xbox One S garnered most of the attention, but loose lips also suggested an Xbox-branded streaming dongle was in the works as well. The Chromecast-like device would've streamed Windows 10 apps and "light Universal Windows Platform" games in addition to content from an Xbox One. It would cost $99 according to Windows Central. "Project Hobart" (apparently the cool sounding codenames are reserved for gaming hardware), was pushed under the rug ahead of E3 to focus on the Xbox One S and revealing next year's high-end Xbox One, Project Scorpio. As WC tells it, Microsoft was going to order 300,000 units of the device and it'd release shortly after E3.

Microsoft's Gaming Chief On the Future of Xbox
Microsoft made some big announcements about the future of the Xbox gaming platform this week at the annual E3 conference. Among the top headlines were two new pieces of hardware: A slimmer version of the company's current console called the Xbox One S, as well as a turbocharged "Project Scorpio" model coming next year. TIME sat down with Xbox Chief Phil Spencer to talk about the company's future gaming plans. What follows is a lightly edited transcript of our conversation. Project Scorpio is designed to run games at 4K, the latest and greatest television resolution.
Microsoft touts smaller, faster Xbox One game consoles at E3
Xbox One is shrinking in size and growing in power. Microsoft unveiled during its Monday media briefing at the Electronic Entertainment Expo a new, slimmer version of the video game console coming later this year and a more powerful one that's due in 2017. The company says the white Xbox One S is 40 percent smaller than the original black Xbox One and will feature support for 4K high-definition video. Other changes include moving the USB ports to the front of the console, adding a built-in infrared blaster and eliminating the port for the motion-detecting Kinect camera system. Microsoft says the console will go on sale in August for 299 to 399 depending on the size of the hard drive.
